Wood Floor Restoration

One of the most fantastic qualities wooden floors posses is that even the most worn floor can be restored to its’ original beauty.

We offer a complete Wood Flooring Restoration service and use our years of experience and broad knowledge to achieve the best results for you.

The restoration of a wooden floor can involve a number of steps to create a result that rivals even new floors.

Step 1: Cleaning

Often the first step is cleaning the wooden floor. This will ensure all areas that need attention and repair can be identified and assessed clearly.

Step 2: Repairs

Repairs of wooden floors can include fixing scratches, dents and even replacing complete boards if needed. Over time wooden floors will be impacted by traffic, moisture or dryness which can result in boards wearing, cupping or separating. The wooden floor repairs will ensure the floor is even again and ready for the next step.

Step 3: Floor Sanding

Floor sanding may be required if large areas of flooring need restoration or if smaller areas are badly worn. The team at BSI Flooring has developed a unique, effective and dust free floor sanding method which ensures a beautiful and smooth floor without any mess.

The floor sanding process we apply is an intricate step by step method which ensures the best results. Large grit belts are used to remove old varnish and dirt, smaller grit belts smooth the wood and remove any remaining damage, and fine grit belts are used to buffer the first varnish coat. In between each step we take extreme care to clean and hoover the floor ready for the next phase.

Step 4: Surface Finishing & Floor Sealing

The next step is the most important in creating the style, colour and finish you want for your floor. We will advice you on how to create the perfect finish of the wooden flooring in your home. We will also apply a number of examples of colours on your floor so can make sure you are completely happy with your chosen colour.

You can choose to use hard wax oils or water-based polyurethane lacquers to seal your wooden floor. Both options offer the choice of ultra matt, matt, satin or gloss finish.

The most popular finish is the lacquer finish as it is almost maintenance free. We apply a minimum of three coats to ensure you have a hard-wearing floor for long period of time. Hardwax Oil finishes will give you a more traditional look and feel and requires more care and ongoing maintenance compared to a lacquer finish.
